Orlando's Story
Orlando came to AIS as a refugee fleeing violence in East Africa.
He and his wife Tabitha had been living in New Haven for a couple of years, working and providing for their children. Tabitha’s next pregnancy, however, came with complications that made life very challenging.
Orlando’s mother, back in his home country, wanted to move to the US to help, but the petitioning process was too complex for them to do by themselves.
AIS assisted Orlando in petitioning for his mother, and knowing that she may be able to join them buoyed them through the difficult pregnancy.
Now, Orlando's mother lives with them and helps with childcare, enabling him and his wife to work full-time and giving the children the benefit of having a relationship with their grandmother.

For Orlando and so many others, Apostle Immigrant Services is a place through which, by hard work and perseverance, dreams of a more secure life become a reality.
It may take months, even years, but when an immigration petition or application is approved, the joy and relief of the family or individual is shared by all.
We invite you to contribute to our mission and become sharers in the joy of lives changed through immigration legal services!
